about

"unreleased" is the only full-length album from the now defunct Paperboy, The Band. The 12 songs from this 21st century new wave punk rock band bring the listener immediately back to late '70s NYC. Hard rock and roll comes face-to-face with power pop in the time-tested collision that brought America the era of the Ramones and Blondie, and the UK bands such as Generation X and Buzzcocks. The songs are fast and short, and the melodies are very catchy.

This music has been described by one critic as "non-aggressive punk." Correct--you won't find any screaming here. The vocal delivery is better described as filled with attitude and a nonchalant sneer; you will, however, find aggression in the playing of the instruments. The players hit hard and play fast. The drumming is outstanding and the songwriting is the real deal.

An all-analog recording. A must-have for fans of the genre.

about

paperboy, the band Asheville, North Carolina

Paperboy made their early mark by recording the unreleased music of the late 70's NYC new wave band The Brunettes. After an EP, a single and a full length CD, Paperboy recorded the all original single of Bitchy Boyfriend b/w I Don't Want You; somehow managing to inject the new single with that same spirit of late 1970's NYC punk attitude. Listen for yourself. An all analog recording. ... more
